Marvel Studios made quite the impact during their panel at San Diego Comic-Con‘s Hall H with seamless endless announcements of new Disney+ original series and films that will take us into Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The presentation led by Kevin Feige brought fans, new trailers, title reveals, and announcements that usher in the new era of the MCU which will be called the Multiverse Saga.
Check out the announcements made during the Hall H presentation below:
She-Hulk: Attorney At Law
Marvel unveiled a brand-new trailer for the Disney+ original series She-Hulk: Attorney At Law that will see Tatiana Maslany take the role of Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk. With the help of Mark Ruffalo‘s Bruce Banner/Hulk, she will attempt to balance the struggles of everyday life while also attempting to harness her abilities. Also revealed was that Benedict Wong and Charlie Cox would appear in the series.
The upcoming Secret Invasion Disney+ series is set to have Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, and Ben Mendelson reprise their roles in the MCU. Starring alongside newcomers Kingsley Ben-Adir, Emilia Clarke, and Olivia Colman, the series will focus on Skrulls who have infiltrated Earth for years, and during the panel, we now know the series will premiere in Spring 2023.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
Feige announced that the upcoming sequel film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania would be kicking off Phase 5 of the MCU on February 17th, 2023. Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly will reprise their roles as Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne as they explore the Quantum Realm. The footage shown at SDCC revealed that Ant-family will be facing off with Jonathan Majors‘ Kang the Conqueror with the greatest surprise being a shot of M.O.D.O.K.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
The presentation revealed that the threequel film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 would make its way to theaters on May 5th, 2023, and fans were shown off a new logo for the film. James Gunn led the presentation with cast members Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan, Will Poulter, and Sean Gunn making an appearance. Gunn showed footage of the film which left the audience emotional and Gunn also went on to note that this will be the end of the arc for the Guardians crew.
Zoe Saldaña will return to reprise her role of Gamora in the third and final entry in the Guardians of the Galaxy arc while the panel notes that people should prepare to learn about Rocket’s early days and the cuteness that is Baby Rocket.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
Marvel Studios unveiled the first trailer and a new poster of the upcoming sequel film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Much like the world has mourned the loss of Chadwick Boseman, the trailer features the nation of Wakanda mourning their fallen king. The film will release in theaters on November 11th, 2022.
The Feige-led presentation announced that the upcoming Disney+ series Echo would be arriving on the streaming service in Summer 2023. The series stars Alaqua Cox who reprises her role from last year’s Hawkeye series with Charlie Cox dropping in for another series appearance since his cameo appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home which confirmed that he would be the MCU’s Daredevil moving forward.
Season 2 of Loki has already been confirmed to be on the way and during the presentation, Feige dropped the news of when the upcoming season of the series will drop on the streamer. The series that sees Tom Hiddleston reprise his role in the MCU as the trickster god Loki, is set to arrive in Summer 2023.
The upcoming film that will see Mahershala Ali take on the role of Blade in the first solo film since Wesley Snipes famously played the character for three entries, was confirmed to be arriving next year. Marvel Studios’ Blade will begin shooting this October with a scheduled release date of November 3rd, 2023.
The upcoming Disney+ series Ironheart which will feature Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) will be arriving on the streamer in the Fall of 2023. Thorne will first make her first MCU appearance in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Agatha: Coven of Chaos
Spinning out of the events of WandaVision. Agatha: Coven of Chaos sees Kathryn Hahn reprise her role of Agatha Harkness in her own solo series on Disney+. Previously titled Agatha: House of Harkness, the series is set to arrive on the streamer in the Winter of 2023.
Daredevil: Born Again
One of the most significant losses of the Netflix Marvel series era was the series that anchored the entire Marvel lineup of series on the streaming platform. After the cancellation of the Marvel series, we thought Charlie Cox‘s time as Daredevil had ended but that all changed during the cameo in No Way Home.
With multiple appearances planned throughout other Marvel Studios projects, it will all lead to his own solo series titled Daredevil: Born Again which has gotten a whopping 18-episode order with Vincent D’Onofrio also reprising his role as Kingpin in the Spring of 2024.
Captain America: New World Order
The events of Falcon and the Winter Soldier saw Bucky (Sebastian Stan) come to terms with his past, and John Walker (Wyatt Russell) see his fall as Captain America and rise as US Agent. No revelation was more important than Sam Wilson’s (Anthony Mackie) transition from Falcon to the new Captain America. Sam now proudly holds the mantle left behind by his friend Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and in his first solo film titled Captain America: New World Order, we will see the type of Cap he will be when it hits theaters on May 3rd, 2024.
Previously announced, Thunderbolts has a big question mark surrounding it and while some information was shared, it still does not paint a full picture of what to expect. We do know the film will be capping off Phase 5 of the MCU when it releases in theaters on July 26th, 2024.
Feige took time during the presentation to let fans know that Marvel‘s iconic family is indeed making its way into the MCU. Even with an alternate version of Reed Richards (John Krasinski) already making an appearance during the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the Fantastic Four will be making their official MCU debut when the film arrives in theaters on November 8th, 2024.
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty/Avengers: Secret Wars
Even with most of the heroes that started it all being gone, the world still needs heroes and they will answer the call during the two planned Avengers films titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. Marvel Studios promises “compelling storytelling’ and a “signature style of adventure” when the films arrive in theaters on May 2nd, 2025, and November 7th, 2025 respectively.
It’s an overwhelming amount of content coming our way and with D23 only a few weeks away, you can expect more announcements. Marvel is certainly playing the long game with the MCU with plenty of content planned for the next few years. Stay tuned as more information becomes available for the upcoming projects.
