Marvel’s Thunderbolts Movie Taps Jake Schreier to Direct
Marvel has announced that they will enlist director Jake Schreier to helm the upcoming Thunderbolts movie. Black Widow screenwriter Eric Pearson will be penning the script with Kevin Feige producing. With a year full of hits for Marvel Studios both on the big and small screen, and more releases still to come this year, fans should be very excited for this project both for its concept and the team being put together behind the camera.
Not much information has been given in regards to the plot but the acknowledgment of the film moving forward means we should see news trickling down as time passes. In the comics, the Thunderbolts are a team made up of supervillains and anti-heroes who made their debut in The Incredible Hulk #449. They were created by Mark Bagley and Kurt Busiek. The team was founded by Baron Zemo.
There aren’t currently any characters or actors attached to the film but looking at the current state of the MCU, there is room for Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Baron Zemo (Daniel Brühl), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), and Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) to possibly fit the role as they have all played a villainous role at one point or another in the MCU. Can’t count out Marvel introducing new characters as well, so the safe bet will be to wait and see.
Thunderbolts is still shrouded in mystery and many projects in between the film’s release at some point could shape how the film looks and who we might see in the film, stay tuned as more information becomes available.
