Wonder Man Series In Development With Shang-Chi Director
The Hollywood Reporter has reported that Marvel is developing a Wonder Man series for Disney+. The original series will bring together Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton and Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘s Andrew Guest. Cretton will executive produce and potentially helm the series while Guest will take on writing duties for the series.
As one of the oldest characters at Marvel, Simon Williams/Wonder Man is not a superhero that shares the popularity of other heroes such as Hulk, Captain America, or Iron Man. Having been introduced by Stan Lee in 1964 within the pages of The Avengers #9, the character did not see his stock rise until the 80s when he became a founding member of the West Coast Avengers.
The wheels keep spinning in the MCU as Phase 4 continues to move past the Infinity Saga and into its new age. The reports of the Thunderbolts film getting its director and the implications this could have on the MCU as speculations point to Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) putting together her own team of anti-heroes, things could be forming as the founder of the Thunderbolts, Baron Zemo (Daniel Brühl) does have ties to Wonder Man himself.
Wonder Man will premiere exclusively on Disney+ with filming possibly beginning in early 2023.
