HEELS Is Stepping Back Into The Ring With A Second Season Coming To STARZ

STARZ has announced that they have greenlit a second season of the critically-acclaimed wrestling drama series Heels. The series premiered worldwide in August and took over fans and critics receiving a ton of praise and with an incredible season one finale, we will have more drama inside and outside the ring when production starts up for season two in 2022.

The series follows the men and women of a close-knit Georgia community called Duffy. Wrestling is a big thing in the community and the family-owned wrestling league is looking to make a name for itself from a small-town pro wrestling league to a real contender in the circuit. With plenty of drama amongst the talent and real issues hounding these people as they seek stardom. We follow the paths of two brothers who are the face of the league as they rival over their father’s legacy. Fans of wrestling know that the staple of good entertainment is that it’s always good vs evil. The good guy is labeled the face while the bad guy is labeled the heel. Whether you are a face or a heel, the goal is the same, get the crowd’s attention, whether they are cheering or booing you. While the brothers play these personas in the ring, living up to who they are in the ring can be much harder… or easier in real life.

The series stars Stephen Amell as Jack Spade and Alexander Ludwig as Ace Spade who are at the center of the series. The cast also includes Alison Luff, Mary McCormack, Kelli Berglund, Allen Maldonado, James Harrison Jr, Roxton Garcia, Trey Tucker, Robby Ramos, and Chris Bauer. Both Tucker and Ramos have been moved up to series regulars for the upcoming second season.

Of the series, Jeffrey Hirsch, President, and CEO at STARZ had this to say:

“It’s clear from the critical and fan acclaim that the stories and characters from the Duffy Wrestling League have made a connection with audiences bringing a community that is not often found to premium TV… I’m excited for our amazing cast and executive producers to get back into the ring together for a second season.”

Mike O’Malley will return as showrunner, executive producer and continue to reprise his role as Charlie Gully. The series was created, written, and executive produced by Michael Waldron. Peter Segal helmed several of season one episodes and also executive produced the series. Julie Yorn, Christopher Donnelly, and Patrick Walmsley will executive produce alongside Waldron, O’Malley, and Segal.

There is not an exact date as to when season 2 will begin filming, but be sure to check out season one of Heels on STARZ while you wait!
