Techland Reveals Concept Art For Upcoming Open-World Fantasy RPG
Techland just recently released Dying Light 2Stay Human, the sequel to the popular parkour open-world survival game. While they celebrate the successful launch of the game and work on post-launch content, they are also working on a new project and the studio has released concept art for the upcoming open-world fantasy action RPG. The game does not yet have a title and is currently in active development. The studio refers to it as a “AAA open-world action RPG in a fantasy setting.”
The concept art features exactly what the studio describes as we see an open landscape with ruins and a waterfall leading into a stream as a character stands at the edge of a cliff. The atmosphere in the concept art points to exactly what we would expect from a fantasy RPG and Techland has already proven time and time again that they are more than capable of giving us massive landscapes to explore. It will be interesting how the studio adapts the gaming mechanics that have brought very successful entries in the zombie survival genre and implement them into an action RPG.
Along with the concept art, the studio also let developers know that they are currently hiring for dozens of positions to work on the RPG. Techland says the development team is led by key figures behind some of the “biggest RPGs in modern history,” including Karolina Stachyra, Arkadiusz Borowik, Bartosz Ochamn, Kevin Quaid, David McClure, Mario Maltezos, plus many more.
Techland CEO Pawel Marchewka commented in the press release, saying:
“We’re very happy with what we have accomplished with the Dying Light franchise so far. Moreover, our journey with Dying Light 2 Stay Human has only just begun as we plan to support this game for at least five years, with its scope and size matching, if not exceeding, what we have provided our community with during post-launch support for its predecessor. At the same time, our ambition is to introduce a brand new IP that is vastly different from what we have been doing for the past several years.
We want to create a fully next-gen experience. A new fantasy epic set in a sprawling open world, fueled by the skills and experience we have gained as a team over the years, infused with new ideas, passion, and creativity. While we cannot share more details about this project now, we’re all truly invested in it and looking forward to showing it to gamers when the time is right.”
Stay tuned as Techland releases more information on the exciting upcoming action RPG.
