Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren Starring in Yellowstone Spinoff 1932
Paramount+ has announced that the upcoming Yellowstone spinoff series 1932 will star Academy Award nominee Harrison Ford and Academy Award winner Helen Mirren. The series will be another adaptation in the western universe from Taylor Sheridan that will focus on another generation of the Dutton family.
Yellowstone “follows the Dutton family, led by John Dutton (Kevin Costner), who controls the largest contiguous ranch in the United States, under constant attack by those it borders – land developers, an Indian reservation, and America’s first National Park.”
Sheridan has already adapted a spinoff of the original series that follows the first generation of the Dutton family. In 1883, the series “follows the Dutton family on a journey west through the Great Plains toward the last bastion of uncolonized America.”
Mirren may not have a history in western adaptations, but her talent is unquestionable, and has been a part of historical adaptations with her role in The Queen while also showing she is not afraid to expand her talents into a variety of projects with her role in Fast & Furious and her upcoming role in Shazam! Fury of the Gods.
Ford, on the other hand, is no stranger to playing a cowboy with his roles in Cowboys & Aliens and The Frisco Kid. He’s also played the iconic roles of Han Solo in Star Wars and Indiana Jones in films of the same name.
The potential in the series with Ford and Mirren’s talent alone should persuade many to keep an eye on the series once it premieres. Season 5 of Yellowstone is currently in production with 1883 earning a season 2 renewal. No release date has been announced for 1932. Stay tuned as Sheridan’s wild west universe continues to take shape.
