Samara Weaving and Tony Revolori Cast in Scream 6
Paramount Pictures has already set everything in motion to bring back many of the surviving stars from the previous Scream entry for another turn at surviving Ghostface. Scream 6 will see Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Mason Gooding returning alongside the previously announced Courteney Cox. The cast just gained two more possible victims as Samara Weaving and Tony Revolori have joined the growing cast of the slasher sequel.
Scream 5 saw legacy characters Neve Cambell, David Arquette, Marley Shelton, and Cox return and even with many characters falling victims to Ghostface, in the end, it seemed as if everything was on its way back to normal.
That won’t be the case for long as the sequel is sure to bring back the persona of Ghostface under the guise of another unknown killer and the big question is, who will survive the sequel? One thing is for sure, Campbell will not have to be looking over her shoulder as it was previously reported that she would not return for the upcoming sequel.
With Arquette’s Dewey being the legacy character to not survive the latest entry, it will be interesting to see Cox’s Gale Weathers role in this, but with Ortega’s Sam Carpenter having ties to the original killers and Cambell’s inevitable return, although not confirmed, the film still has ties to what started it all with Wes Craven at the helm.
Scream 5 marked the first film not helmed by the late Wes Craven and taking the helm were Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett who directed the film and dedicated to the memory of the iconic director Craven. The film found immense success at the box office with a haul of $140M and putting up fantastic numbers after its premiere on Paramount+. There was no question of another sequel coming and we and many longtime fans are eagerly awaiting to slash our ways back into the madness.
Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler will return to helm the sequel with James Vanderbilt & Guy Busick also returning to co-write the script. Paul Neinstein, William Sherak, and Chad Villella will be executive producing the film alongside Kevin Williamson, Gary Barber, and Peter Oillataguerre.
Weaving is set to reunite with Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett as they previously worked together on the 2019 horror comedy film Ready or Not which is a criminally underrated film. She has also starred in other popular horror films such as The Babysitter and Mayhem. Revolori is known for his role as Flash Thompson in Jon Watts’ Spider-Man films but is also a ranged talent with roles in films such as The Grand Budapest Hotel and The French Dispatch.
Scream 6 will release in theaters on March 31st, 2023.
