My Hero Academia Live-Action Film Adaptation is Coming to Netflix
Netflix has announced that they will be diving into the anime medium once again as they look to develop a live-action film adaptation of My Hero Academia from Legendary Entertainment. The film was announced in 2018 with Alice in Borderland creator Shinsuke Sato on board to helm the film and Joby Harold (Obi-Wan Kenobi) penning the script. Now the streamer looks to jump on board the project as they hope to give one of the most popular anime and manga series in recent years.
My Hero Academia was created by Kohei Horikoshi in 2014 and took the medium by storm as it introduced a beloved array of characters and focused on Izuku Midoriya, a young man with no special abilities who dreams of being a superhero. In a world where 80% of the population is granted these abilities known as “quirks,” he finds himself without ability and yearning to be part of the prestigious superhero academy known as U.A. High School.
A series of circumstances lead him to cross paths with the most renowned superhero known as All Might, who happens to be the hero he has always looked up to and aspired to be, these events chart his path to becoming the greatest hero possible.
My Hero Academia continues to top the charts in both the manga and anime mediums with the anime series being as popular as ever and entering its sixth season. The anime series has also seen itself produce three spinoff films My Hero Academia: Two Heroes, My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising, and My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission. The series does not show signs of slowing down and live-action adaptation will either be yet another achievement or a dark mark on the influential series. There is no word on the details of the adaptation and how true they aim to stay to the source material. The film is being produced by Mary Parent and Alex Garcia.
Netflix has seen its ups and downs in the anime adaptation front with Cowboy Bebop and Death Note being two of the biggest flops they produced and then a stellar adaptation of Rurouni Kenshin showing that the streamer shows potential at adapting the beloved mediums. They also hope to capitalize once more with the highly-anticipated live-action adaptation of One Piece which is shaping up to be one many fans have their eyes on.

No additional information on casting, story, or involvement of the live-action adaptation is known but stay tuned as more information becomes available.
