Warrior Nun Saved From Cancellation

Netflix had broken many fan’s hearts when they canceled the fan-favorite series on the streamer but now it seems that Warrior Nun has been saved from cancellation. The series based on the popular comic book series Warrior Nun Areala by author Ben Dunn will be resurrected as confirmed by showrunner Simon Barry who took to social media to make the announcement.

Barry posted on his Twitter account saying:

“Today I’m happy to officially report that because of your combined voices, passion and amazing efforts – #WarriorNun will return and is going to be more EPIC than you could imagine. More details to come! SOON! Thank-you!! #SaveWarriorNun #WarriorNunSaved.”

Original Story

Netflix‘s popular series Warrior Nun has been canceled after two seasons at the streamer. The news was delivered by showrunner Simon Barry who revealed the news via social media. The series followed an orphaned teen who awakens at a morgue with superpowers after events at the morgue lead a faction of demon-hunting nuns to give her possession of an ancient artifact and thus becomes chosen as the “Halo Bearer.”

Barry’s statement on social media reads:

“I’ve just found out that Netflix will not be renewing Warrior Nun – my sincere appreciation to all the fans who worked so hard to bring awareness to this series, and for the love you showed me, the cast and the whole production team. It was a privilege to be a part of this.”

This is a wonderful message from the showrunner to the fans and shows that the series not only showed promise and potential as it progressed but also built up a fan base that will surely feel the loss of yet another series that has become much too common. Netflix has pulled the plug on many series regardless of the quality of the series and undoubtedly is not being given enough time to thrive and work itself into a fluid story.

It raises the risk of any fan being too weary to try a new series out of fear of never seeing it reach the full circle. Most recently the popular horror series from Mike Flanagan got axed when the news dropped that The Midnight Club would not return for a second season.

Based on a graphic novel titled Warrior Nun Areala by Ben Dunn, the series starred Alba Baptista, Kristina Tonteri-Young, Lorena Andrea, Tristan Ulloa, Thekla Reuten, Olivia Delcan, and Sylvia De Fanti.

Netflix Cancels Warrior Nun after Two Seasons at Streamer

No project finds itself in safe waters nowadays and truthfully feels like a disservice to fans. Of course, there is a business side of these decisions to consider and the longevity and life of the streaming platform but creatively, someone on the decision-making side needs to champion some of these projects as they work at a different pace that might not see it become an overnight success as some of their previous series such as Stranger Things.
