Uncharted Director Ruben Fleischer Developing Jak and Daxter Movie Adaptation
A movie adaptation based on the hit PlayStation video game franchise Jak and Daxter is in the works from Uncharted director Ruben Fleischer. This is just days after Tom Holland said during an interview that he would an adaptation of the popular PlayStation franchise. What was nothing but wishful thinking has quickly become reality as the director confirmed he is in fact working on an adaptation.
During an interview with Digital Trends, Fleischer revealed that while he could not reveal details, he was working on bringing the video game duo to the big screen, saying:
“I’m actually working on Jak and Daxter, a version of that, for PlayStation, which I think would be really cool to bring to life.”
The PlayStation franchise was an iconic entry in the PlayStation 2 era, although we have not seen an entry in the franchise for some time, the last numbered entry being Jak 3 in 2004. followed by Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier for the PlayStation Vita. PlayStation revealed last year that they have 10 adaptations planned and Uncharted is one of those, so this could very well be something that has been in the works or planned for some time now.
Without further details, it is unknown if this is a planned live-action adaptation or an animated film, but with Holland hoping to be a part of an adaptation, we are strongly hoping that this is a live-action adaptation like what we saw from Uncharted.
No official confirmation of the film adaptation has been made, but you can check out Uncharted in theaters on February 18th, 2022.
