Tom Welling Cast in The Winchesters
It was announced during the Winchesters‘ panel at New York Comic-Con that Smallville‘s Tom Welling was cast in the Supernatural prequel series. The series based on Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki‘s demon-hunting brothers Dean and Sam Winchester family is set to turn back the clock to the point that their parents crossed paths.
In Supernatural, their parents were portrayed by Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Samantha Smith. The series will focus on how they got into the demon-hunting business and their love story.
The series is narrated by Ackles, who also created the series alongside Danneel Ackles, who will serve as executive producer alongside Robbie Thompson and Glen Winter. The Series will star Drake Rodger as John Winchester and Meg Donnelly and Mary Campbell. Welling joins the cast alongside the previously cast Demetria McKinney, Nida Khurshi, Jojo Fleites, and Bianca Kajlich.
There are currently no details on who Welling will play in the series but given his recent recurring role on Netflix‘s Lucifer, a demon role would be very welcome and exciting to see. Welling famously portrayed Clark Kent in The CW‘s Smallville for 10 seasons and really paved a path for the character on the small screen. A role he was able to revisit during the Arrowverse crossover event Crisis on Infinite Earths.
The Winchesters‘ series premiere is only days away and will be available on The CW. Stay tuned as more information on Welling’s involvement in the series is revealed.
