The Batman 2 Announced with Robert Pattinson Returning and Matt Reeves Directing
Warner Bros. and DC have officially announced that The Batman will return for a sequel with Robert Pattinson confirmed to reprise his role as the Dark Knight and Matt Reeves returning to direct. Announced during CinemaCon, the announcement confirmed that the box office hit that garnered over $750M will continue to explore Gotham City.
The film was expected to get a sequel greenlit after its success and with the spinoff series having already been greenlit and planned on HBO Max, the Reeves universe looks to get much bigger. Colin Farrell’s Penguin is set to appear in an HBO Max original series with a possible Arkham Asylum and Gotham City Police Department series in the works.
The film follows Bruce Wayne/Batman in “year two” of his vigilantism as the legend of the Dark Knight spreads throughout Gotham, a new villain emerges in the Riddler (Paul Dano) and poses Batman’s biggest challenge yet.
The film also starred Zoë Kravitz, Andy Serkis, Jeffrey Wright, and John Turturro. The film is still in early development and no release window has been given at this time. Stay tuned for more updates.
