A New Anti-Hero Takes Flight in Image Comics’ Sins of the Black Flamingo
Image Comics announced a new five-issue miniseries coming this June. The new series titled Sins of the Black Flamingofeatures a new “queer anti-hero” from writer Andrew Wheeler, with art by Travis Moore, colors by Tamra Bonvillain, and letters by Aditya Bidikar. The new series brings together a superstar line-up of creators to celebrate Pride Month with an “all-queer creative team.”
Image Comics describes Sins of the Black Flamingo as:
“Occult Noir. Miami Sleaze. In Sins of the Black Flamingo, Sebastian Harlow is the eponymous Black Flamingo, a flamboyant and narcissistic thief who gets his kicks stealing mystic artifacts from the wealthy and corrupt of Miami’s occult underground. But when his latest job leads him to his biggest score so far, the hedonistic outlaw discovers something he wasn’t looking for—something to believe in.”
Wheeler spoke of the new series and the importance of positive representation, saying:
“Positive representation is vitally important, but we also need complicated, messy, queer anti-heroes, and the Black Flamingo is messy as f*ck!”
Wheeler added:
“With Sins of the Black Flamingo I want to introduce readers to a glamorous, tawdry world of dark secrets and queer spectacle that’s unlike anything they’ve experienced before. Thanks to the incredible talents of Travis, Tamra, and Aditya, I think that’s exactly what readers are going to get! These artists are the best in the business, and I’m so proud to be working with them!”
