Scream VI Teaser Trailer Reveals Ghostface’s Killing Spree is Headed to New York City

Paramount Pictures has released the Scream VI official trailer for the upcoming sequel in the Scream franchise. The new trailer dives deeper into the bloody killing spree Ghostface will be bringing to the concrete jungle of New York City as the killer’s hunt for the previous film’s final girls who survived falling victim to the killer’s knife continues. Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera will again reprise their role but this time, they are up against “something different” with the new killer on the loose that may just be the one with a knife sharp enough to do what previous Ghostfaces have failed to do.

The official trailer delves deeper into the city that never sleeps as within seconds we see that Ghostface is not relying on shadow games to get to his victims as we see a bloody showdown in a convenience store and even a shotgun-toting killer laying waste as our Woodsboro survivors don’t get much of a break after the events of the last film.

We see the likes of Gale, Tara, and Sam all crossing paths with the masked killer but as he states in the trailer, “there’s never been one like me,” and even the reveal of a shrine. Is this just another person fascinated with the bloody tale that originated in Woodsboro or is there really something different in store this time around that the franchise’s previous killers did not have?

The sisters looked to escape Woodsboro after the previous film’s events and the revelation of Sam’s ties to one of the original Ghostface Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich). New York City is definitely an excellent place to get lost and find a different atmosphere than the small town of Woodsboro where gossip is only a stone’s throw away.

But not even the masses of NYC could help Sam and Tara escape yet another plot to end their life. Whether it be fanatics who discovered their secret, someone from their past, or a twist none of us can see coming is unknown but we are here for it every step of the way and we won’t have to wait long as the film is only a few months away.

Scream VI will star Ortega, Barrera, Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Courtney Cox, Samara Weaving, Liana Liberato, Dermot Mulroney, Jack Champion, Henry Czerny, Tony Revolori, Josh Segarra, Devyn Nekoda, and surviving member of the Scream 4 cast Hayden Panettiere. As previously revealed, an original final girl of the famed franchise Neve Campbell will not be returning and will certainly be missed as the franchise continues.

The film was directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillet who helmed the previous entry. James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick co-wrote the screenplay with Paul Neinstein and William Sherak producing. Bettinelli-Olpin, Gillet, Chad Villella, Kevin Williamson, Gary Barber, and Peter Oillataguerre executive-produced the film.

Scream VI will slash its way to theaters on March 10, 2023.
