Netflix’s One Piece Live-Action Series Adds Six to Cast
Netflix has announced six new cast members joining the live-action series adaptation of One Piece. The series is adapted from the manga and anime of the same name by creator Eiichiro Oda. The series follows a group of pirates as they explore the seas searching for the One Piece. The One Piece is a legendary treasure with the power to turn those who possess it into the Pirate King, the ruler of the ocean.
The new cast includes Morgan Davies who will portray Koby, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino as “Iron Mace” Alvida, Jeff Ward as Buggy, Aidan Scott as Lieutenant Commando Helmeppo, McKinley Belcher III as Arlong the Saw, Vincent Regan as Garp. They join the previously cast Iñaki Godoy, Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Jacob Romero Gibson, and Taz Skylar.
Steven Maeda will be the showrunner on the series and also executive produce. Maeda also co-wrote the script alongside Matt Owens. Oda will also be on board the project as an executive producer alongside Marty Edelstein and Becky Clements.
There isn’t a release date for Netflix’s One Piece, but the series did enter production last month, so some work is left to be done before the race for the next Pirate King begins. Stay tuned for more updates.
