Ms. Marvel Trailer Reveals A Cosmic Take on the Teenage Superhero
Disney+ has revealed the first official trailer for the upcoming original series Ms. Marvel. The series will be introducing the teenage superhero Kamala Khan to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in her own solo series as part of the Phase Four plans for the MCU. The series stars Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan who is your everyday teenager who writes fan fiction, crushes on boys, and deals with bullies at school, but that all seems to change when she becomes a superhero of her own after receiving cosmic powers.
The trailer took us on a ride through Khan’s mind as she daydreams of her favorite superhero Captain Marvel. In what seems like a classic coming-of-age story as she also seems to deal with the hurdles of life at school, and crushing on boys. The ceiling comes crashing down to reality when Khan becomes the recipient of her own superpowers and the MCU version of Ms. Marvel looks to change up the origin a bit as she isn’t able to change her size as in the comics and instead generates energy that serves in the same manner as her abilities in the comics.
Starring alongside Vellani will be Aramis Knight as Kareem/Red Dagger, Saagar Shaikh as Kamala’s older brother Amir, Matt Lintz as Kamala’s best friend Bruno Carrelli, Rish Shah as Kamran,Laurel Marsden as Zoe Zimmer, and Zenobia Shroff and Mohan Kapur as Kamala’s parents. Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Nakli, Azhar Usman, Travina Springer, Nimra Bucha, Alyy Khan, and Alysia Reiner are cast in yet undisclosed roles. Recently announced is also Anjaji Bhimani who will be joining the series in a recurring role.
Kevin Feige is executive producing the series alongside head writer Bisha K. Ali, and co-executive producers Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Sana Amanat, and Brad Winderbaum. Helming episodes in the first season are Adil El Arbi, Bilall Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, and Meera Menon.
Ms. Marvel will premiere exclusively on Disney+ on June 8th, 2022. Check out the trailer and poster below:
