Michael B. Jordan to Direct and Star in Creed 4

Michael B. Jordan will once again step into the ring as Adonis Creed in Creed 4. Jordan will not only reprise his role but will also return to direct the upcoming sequel. Producer Irwin Winkler officially confirmed the film to Deadline.

According to Winkler, “We’re planning to do Creed IV right now, and we have a really good story, really good plot.” He further mentioned that the plans saw a delay “because of the strike, like everybody else” but “probably a year from now we’re going for pre-production.

The franchise’s success has also led to its expansion into the world of comics. Boom! Studios has published a sequel comic series. The comic series picks up years after the films as Adonis has retired from in-ring action but is still very much in the game as he trains his daughter Amara who is now an amateur boxer. The series is created by co-writers LaToya Morgan and Jai Jamison, with art by Wilton Santos, and colors by DJ Chavis.

Jordan directed the most recent film released in the franchise, Creed III from a screenplay by Keenan Coogler and Zach Baylin from a story Jordan co-wrote with Ryan Coogler. In the film, Creed’s success and lifestyle are put to the test when someone from his past comes and threatens to take everything he’s worked for.

Creed III starred Jonathan Majors as Damian and brought back Tessa Thompson as Bianca, Wood Harris as Little Duke, Florian Munteanu as Viktor Drago, Phylicia Rashad as Mary Anne Creed, José Benavidez Jr. as Felix Chavez, Selenis Leyva as Laura Chavez, and Anthony Bellew as Ricky Conlan.

Having become the highest-grossing Creed film, Jordan’s appreciation of details including his inspirations for the fighting sequences set the film up to be a huge success in the eyes of both critics and fans. Now, Jordan sets his sights on his next challenge with what will be a highly anticipated sequel, Creed 4. Stay tuned as more information is revealed about the upcoming sequel.
