Marvel Shakes Up Release Dates After Blade is Put on Hold, Deadpool 3, Fantastic Four, & Avengers: Secret Wars Delayed
Disney has made some big changes to its Marvel Cinematic Universe film lineup that it revealed during San Diego Comic-Con. It was announced recently that Blade director Basamam Tariq had stepped down from helming the film and the film has since been put on hold while it looks for its next director. This has caused a significant shakeup to the lineup of films coming from Marvel Studios as it was announced that Deadpool 3, Fantastic Four, and Avengers: Secret Wars have been delayed as a result.
Let’s break down the bad news for you right here. The Ryan Reynolds-led film recently made headlines announcing that Hugh Jackman would be reprising his role of Wolverine in the threequel. The film helmed by Shawn Levy sees itself pushed out to a November 8th, 2024 release date from its previous September 6th, 2024 release date.
The Fantastic Four film that is set to be helmed by WandaVision‘s director Matt Shakman has been pushed out to February 14th, 2025 from its original release date of November 8th, 2024. Lastly, Avengers: Secret Wars which was one of the two Avengers films announced alongside Avengers: Kang Dynasty will now release on May 1st, 2026 from its previous release date of November 7th, 2025. Kang Dynasty was not affected by the shakeup and is still scheduled to release on May 2nd, 2025.
With the closely connected universe of Marvel films, its to be expected to see this sort of domino effect when one of the films is crippled as Blade was but if there is any truth to the issues circulating the film, this is definitely the right move as this could have been catastrophic for Blade as a character and the possibilities he could have found himself within the MCU.
Stay tuned as more information becomes available on the future of Blade and the slate of Marvel Studios films.
