Margot Robbie Cast in New Ocean’s Eleven Prequel Film
Warner Bros. has announced that a new crew is coming together for an Ocean’s Eleven prequel film. It all begins with Margot Robbie reuniting with director Jay Roach for the upcoming prequel. The Hollywood Reporter’s report does not specify if the new film will be connected to the previous films that have seen many entries, including a female-led continuation starring Sandra Bullock. The film does already have a script penned by Carrie Solomon and is reportedly set in 1960s Europe.
The franchise got its start in 1960 with the original film that starred Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis Jr. which led to the remake of the film in 2001 with George Clooney and Brad Pitt leading a trilogy of films that followed the heist crew through many different jobs. The previously mentioned female-led film came in 2018 and saw Bullock play Debbie Ocean, the sister of Clooney’s Danny Ocean.
Robbie and Roach previously collaborated on Bombshell which earned Robbie an Academy Award nomination. Robbie has also starred in hit films such as I, Tonya, The Wolf of Wall Street, and of course plays the iconic DC villain Harley Quinn in the DCU. Robbie will next be seen in Babylon, Amsterdam, and the Mattel film Barbie which is currently filming. Roach is known for helming the Austin Powers trilogy as well the comedy films Meet the Parents and Meet the Fockers.
The film will be produced by Robbie and Roach alongside Tom Ackerley, Michelle Graham, Gary Ross, Olivia Milch, and Josey McNamara.
The film is currently in development and has yet to be greenlit. Should the film reach production, it is set to begin by 2023. Stay tuned for more updates.
