A Simple Favor Sequel In Development at Amazon Studios With Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick
Lionsgate and Amazon Studios have partnered to develop a sequel to the acclaimed 2018 film A Simple Favor. Reports state that both stars of the original movie Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick will return to reprise their roles. The sequel is also bringing back director Paul Feig to helm the movie and original screenwriter Jessica Sharzer.
A Simple Favor was adapted from the 2017 novel of the same name by author Darcey Bell. The novel follows a mommy blogger and single mother (Kendrick) who befriends a wealthy mother (Lively) at her child’s elementary school. When her friend goes missing, the mommy blogger decides to investigate her new friend’s disappearance. The novel does not currently have a follow-up, so it’s a safe bet that this will be an original direction for the sequel film to take.
Lively is best known for her role in the series Gossip Girl and has starred in the hit films such as The Shallows and Age of Adeline. Lively recently made the announcement that she will be making her feature film directorial debut on the film Seconds which is being penned by Edgar Wright.
Kendrick is best known for her role in Pitch Perfect, Trolls, and Into the Woods. She is also an Academy Award-nominated actress for her role in Up in the Air. Feig is known for creating the series Freaks and Geeks. He has also helmed episodes for hit series such as The Office, Arrested Development, and Parks and Recreation.
Feig will produce the sequel alongside Laura Fischer, Meredith Wieck, and Scott O’Brien. Sharzer will serve as executive producer on the film.
