Netflix has taken a break from making headlines on cancellations of projects to bring fans the stellar news that their original series Wednesday has been renewed for season 2 on the streaming platform. The series quickly captivated audiences with a wonderful and dark take on the classic The Addams Family. Following Wednesday Addams as she heads to Nevermore Academy, the series took fans into the mysterious and supernatural social hierarchy we all dealt with in our time at school. Minus werewolves and other creatures of course.
The series stars Jenna Ortega, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Emma Myers, Gwendoline Christie, Riki Lindhome, Hunter Doohan, Percy Hynes White, Isaac Ordonez, Joy Sunday, and featured Christina Ricci who played the iconic role of Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family and The Addams Family Values films.
The series gave fans a series that trod the line between a high-school drama series and a supernatural mystery that embellished the series in the dark gothic style we have always loved from the first goth family. Even with all eyes being on Wednesday, the series provided a wonderful supporting cast which was made even sweeter with Ricci’s inclusion as Ms. Thornhill.
Ricci served as a confidante and mentor to Ortega’s Wednesday which gave us a look at the passing of the torch of sorts while still showing the two stars who have made a household name of the character for both returning and new fans share the screen together. The series landed on our top 10 series of 2022 and we look forward to seeing what comes next.
Season 1 of Wednesday is available to stream on Netflix right now.
