Tom Hiddleston Set to Star in The White Darkness, New Adventure Series for Apple TV+
Apple TV+ has announced that Tom Hiddleston is set to star in their upcoming adventure series titled The White Darkness. Along with starring, Hiddleston is also set to executive produce the limited series that got a series order from the streamer. The series will be developed by Soo Hugh and adapted from the non-fiction book of the same name by author David Grann. The book and limited series are inspired by the true-life story of Henry Worsley who Hiddleston will portray.
The plot follows a former soldier and father whose obsession with adventure leads him on an epic journey unlike any other he has experienced. He ventures out to cross Antarctica on foot.
The official description for the series is as follows:
“Spellbinding story of courage, love, family and the extremes of human capacity.” The series will premiere globally on Apple TV+, though no release date or window has been revealed as of yet.”
Hugh will also serve as executive producer alongside Hiddleston in addition to Theresa Kang-Lowe, Caroline Garity, and Mark Heyman. Hugh and Heyman will also serve as co-showrunners on the series. Hiddleston is best known for his iconic role as Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and has gone to portray the character many times since his debut in 2011’s Thor. He most recently appeared as the god mischief in his Disney+ spinoff series Loki which is slated to return for a second season.
The White Darkness does not currently have an announced release date but will premiere exclusively on Apple TV+.
