Tobin Bell Returning as Jigsaw for Saw 10
Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures previously announced the continuation of the long-running horror franchise Saw with Saw 10 in the works. Details were slim but we now know that Tobin Bell is set to return to his iconic role of Jigsaw/John Kramer in the upcoming film.
After the success of Chris Rocks‘ Spiral: From the Book of Saw which marks the only film in the Saw franchise that Bell has not appeared, the studios were not ready to let the franchise be done just yet and this film just got a bit more interesting with the grand return of the character that put these films on the map.
The film franchise was first released in 2004 which saw Bell’s iconic Jigsaw as the serial killer who had extreme methods of placing his victims in elaborate and horrifying traps to pass along his lesson and give his victims a very small chance of redemption. Although Jigsaw is in fact dead, his character has made appearances throughout every film in the franchise except Spiral and has continued to terrorize victims since he first took on Dr. Lawrence Gordon (Cary Elwes) and Adam (Leigh Wannell).
Saw 10 will be helmed by Kevin Greutart who was an editor for the first five films in the franchise until he took the helm for Saw: The Final Chapter. Plot details are still under wraps but with production set to begin sooner rather than later, expect to see some more information trickle down. The studios have said that the new film will include “all-new twisted, ingenious traps and a new mystery to solve.”
Speaking of Bell’s return, producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules said:
“What a thrill to be reuniting with Tobin. His performance as John Kramer is part of the magic that made this franchise a phenomenon and his character is an active part of this film.”
Saw 10 is slated for a theatrical release on October 27, 2023.
