Thor: Love and Thunder Disney+ Release Date Announced

Marvel Studios latest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Thor: Love and Thunder is set to be available for Marvel fans on Disney+ in September. The film starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, and Russell Crowe will be jumping into the streaming service in just a couple of weeks and should make for a great time to rewatch the epic entry in Thor‘s legacy in the MCU as well an exciting time for those that missed it in theaters to get a chance to experience the film.

The film served as a landmark bringing back Portman’s Jane Foster after her absence in Thor: Ragnarok while taking it one step further and introducing us to the Mighty Thor Jane Foster which fans had been highly-anticipating since the announcement at 2019’s San Diego Comic-Con. The film was a box office blockbuster as it hauled in over $700M worldwide and was one of the top-grossing films of this year so far.

“The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjölnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.”

The film also stars Tessa Thompson, Jamie Alexander, Karen Gillan, Chris Pratt, Taika Waititi, Anthony Hopkins, Pom Klementieff, Sean Gunn, Dave Bautista, and Jeff Goldblum. Waititi will helm the film once again after his successful resurrection of the Thor films in the MCU with the previous entry, Thor: Ragnarok. Waititi is credited with reinvigorating one of the weaker franchises within the MCU and that energy seems to keep rolling through into Love and Thunder.

Thor: Love and Thunder will premiere on Disney+ on September 8th, 2022.
