The Toxic Avenger Reboot Releases First Image
Legendary Pictures is ready to bring back the cult classic, the Toxic Avenger, in an exciting remake and we now have our first look! The first look at the film has been unveiled ahead of the premiere will be at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas, where the movie will kick off the event as the opening night film.

In this version, Peter Dinklage takes on the lead role of Winston Gooze, a janitor struggling with depression while working at a health club. After being diagnosed with a terminal illness, Gooze decides to rob his employer for treatment expenses. However, his plan takes a dangerous turn when he falls into a vat of radioactive waste, leading to his transformation into the monstrous hero known as the Toxic Avenger.
The recently released image showcases Dinklage as Gooze, wielding a glowing green mop as a weapon. Although much of Gooze’s character remains a mystery due to the shadowy depiction, it has sparked curiosity and excitement among fans.
Alongside Dinklage, the film features Jacob Tremblay as Gooze’s son, as well as Kevin Bacon, Julia Davis, Taylour Paige, Sarah Niles, Julian Kostov, Elijah Wood, Jane Levy, and Macon Blair. Blair helmed the film from his own script, while Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz, the original directors, and founders of Troma, are serving as producers.

Since its release in 1984, the original Toxic Avenger film has attained a dedicated following and has become a beloved classic within the splatter film genre. Consequently, a reboot has been on the horizon for quite some time.
Although previous attempts were made to revive the franchise, it wasn’t until Legendary Pictures secured the rights in 2019 that progress began. With the capable hands of director Macon Blair, the remake is set to captivate both longtime fans and newcomers to the Toxic Avenger universe.
More information about The Toxic Avenger is surely to come soon as it premieres at Fantastic Fest on September 21, 2023.
