The Super Mario Bros. Movie Trailer Unleashes Bowser’s Warpath
Universal Pictures and Nintendo have released the first trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie at New York Comic-Con. The Chris Pratt-led animated film will see Bowser(Jack Black) unleashing a fiery warpath on the world of the popular video game franchise. The film has a star-studded cast set to voice some of the characters that have been a part of possibly the biggest video game franchise for over forty years now.
Joining Pratt and Black will be Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike. Even with an A-list cast voicing the characters, the fanbase has been vocal about their concerns regarding their ability to portray these characters, specifically Pratt as Mario. Pratt and Illumination‘s CEO have both addressed the fan’s concerns.
The film was helmed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic working from a script penned by Matthew Fogel. Illumination produced the film through founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and Shigeru Miyamoto on behalf of Nintendo.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie will arrive in theatres on April 7th, 2023.
