Samuel L. Jackson Cast as Garfield’s Dad in Upcoming Chris Pratt-Led Animated Film
The upcoming Sony Pictures animated Garfield movie has added another A-list actor to its cast. Samuel L. Jackson has signed on to star alongside Pratt in an original role as Garfield’s father, Vic. Jackson lending his voice to a brand-new character that we have never seen in the comic strip or previous entries in film/TV should be interesting.
Jackson is known for his foul-mouthed rants and has also given the MCU’s Nick Fury a high-profile portrayal that has earned him many appearances in MCU films and will also star in the upcoming Secret Invasion series at Disney+.
Jackson joins Chris Pratt who is set to voice the lasagna-loving orange cat who originated in 1978 from the Jim Davis comic strip that followed Garfield’s day to day life as he made it his goal to be as lazy as possible while living with his owner Jon and Jon’s dog and Garfield’s companion, Odie.
The Garfield film was announced last year along with Pratt’s casting shortly after Pratt nabbed the role of the iconic Super Mario in Illumination‘s animated film that also boasts a star-studded cast. The Garfield film has a script written by David Reynolds who is known for his work on Finding Nemo. The film will be helmed by Mark Dindal, who is also no stranger to hit animated films, having previously worked on Chicken Little and Emperor’s New Groove.
