Studio Ghibli Confirms Mystery Project with Lucasfilm
Studio Ghibli announced today via their social media account that they are working on a mystery project with Lucasfilm. The two studios look to bring a one-of-a-kind experience as the legendary Japanese animation studio is behind a slate of acclaimed projects that includes over 20 animated features such as Howl’s Moving Castle, Spirited Away, Kiki’s Delivery Service, My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke, and many more. Lucasfilm on the other hand is behind the expansive Star Wars universe plus Indiana Jones and Willow. The potential of this collaboration could be an immense fan service that we hope leads to the two studios teaming up for an animated feature.
No details have been given as to what this collaboration will entail but the possibilities should make fans of both studios and universes very excited. We have seen the Star Wars universe expand into animation as of late with the Disney+ anthology series Star Wars: Visions.
The first season saw many animation studios bring their own stories and technical abilities to the Star Wars universe and delivered a stellar experience that included many highlight stories into Star Wars. The first season was a big success and led to the announcement of a season 2 which will bring a new slate of studios to bring more stories for fans. Season 2 will bring studios from the United States, South Africa, Spain, Chile, France, India, and the UK for a whole new experience from different backgrounds.
