Post-Rise of Skywalker Film Announced with Daisy Ridley Returning
Lucasfilm has dropped a stunning announcement revealing that a post-Rise of Skywalker film is coming with Daisy Ridley confirmed to return and reprise her role of Rey Skywalker. The untitled film will put a spotlight on the formation of a new Jedi Order under the leadership of now Jedi Master Rey. The film is being helmed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy who helmed Disney+‘s, Ms. Marvel.
After the events of the recent trilogy, Rey went from scavenger to Luke Skywalker’s (Mark Hamill) apprentice. Her character remained the focal point of the trilogy as the revelation of her familial ties to Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) were revealed during the trilogy and inevitably led to her defeat of Palpatine and the role of Jedi Master under the name of Skywalker which she claimed.
We saw some of our favorite legacy characters return during the most recent trilogy with Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher all reprising their roles as they took on Adam Driver‘s Kylo Ren.
The new trilogy will be a celebration for many fans while others will see it as a test as Star Wars remains one of the fandoms with the most critical fanbase. Many fans felt like the most recent trilogy created some wrongs and did a disservice to some of the characters in the trilogy. On the other hand, the Star Wars universe has expanded into a full-blown franchise spanning films and TV series. I for one cannot wait to see the new foundation that gets laid out for the next chapter.
Stay tuned as more information is revealed about the upcoming trilogy.
