Jon Watts’ Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Series Will Star Jude Law, Premiering in 2023
Disney‘s Star Wars Celebration treated fans to a ton of news and reveals, including the highly-anticipated season 3 of The Mandalorian. They also gave us more on the upcoming Star Wars series from Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts. The series described as a “1980 coming-of-age adventure in space” will be titled Star Wars: Skeleton Crew and will star Jude Law. The series will begin filming soon with a 2023 release date.
During the Star Wars Celebration, Watts said:
“This is a show that we’ve been working on for a really long time.” Watts continued, “it’s a story of 10-year-old kids from a tiny planet who get lost in the Star Wars galaxy. It’s the story of their journey home…
It stars four kids, but it’s not just for kids.”
Dave Filoni added:
“We cut people’s heads off in Clone Wars.”
Watts helmed No Way Home which was a box office success to say the least and was previously attached to the Fantastic Four film which would have marked his fourth entry in the MCU but eventually backed away from the project, in which he stated, “I’m eternally grateful to have been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for seven years. I’m hopeful we’ll work together again, and I can’t wait to see the amazing vision for Fantastic Four brought to life.”
Other cast members joining the Skeleton Crew are still a mystery but the series will be executive produced by Watts, Filoni, Jon Favreau, and Christopher Ford.
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew will premiere exclusively on Disney+ in 2023. Check out the concept art revealed at the Star Wars Celebration below:
