Spider-Man: No Way Home Could Kickoff a Shared Sony & Marvel Universe

Sony Pictures touched on plans of a shared universe between their studio and Marvel Studios with Spider-Man: No Way Home possibly kicking things off.

Spider-Man: No Way Home

Sony Executive, Sanford Panitch suggested that Spider-Man: No Way Home will kick off this long speculated shared universe between Sony and Marvel and he addressed the ongoing tension and barriers that have prevented the MCU’s Spider-Man from appearing in Sony’s Marvel films. He also revealed that there is a plan to rectify this and that the fans are starting to catch onto it. Not many details were shared, but Panitch indicated that the tensions will be resolved and that it all will be clearer once No Way Home is released. Here’s what Panitch said:

“There actually is a plan. I think now maybe it’s getting a little more clear for people where we’re headed and I think when ‘No Way Home’ comes out, even more will be revealed. The great thing is we have this very excellent relationship with Kevin [Feige]. There’s an incredible sandbox there to play with. We want those MCU movies to be absolutely huge, because that’s great for us and our Marvel characters, and I think that’s the same thing on their side. But we have a great relationship. There’s lots of opportunities, I think, that are going to happen.”

For years Spider-Man has been at the center of what has always felt like a custody battle over the favorite child, but it seems like we have a positive turn on the horizon. Marvel and Sony have already collaborated and brought Spider-Man into the MCU which was pivotal for Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man and Robert Downey Jr‘s Iron Man.

The shared ownership has raised the idea that MCU’s Holland can appear in Sony’s Marvel films with many of Spider-Man universe characters in the mix such as Venom, Morbius, and now the recently announced Kraven the Hunter film. Now, there haven’t been any direct nods to Holland’s Spider-Man jumping into Sony’s Marvel films, but Micheal Keaton reprising his role of The Vulture in Morbius definitely shows that Sony is ready to make this happen. We will have to wait until Spider-Man: No Way Home releases later this year to get some answers, hopefully…
