Skull and Bones Delayed for the Fifth Time, Now Releasing March 2023
Ubisoft’s Skull & Bones has been hit with yet another delay pushing it into March 2023. When the title was first announced, many fans were ecstatic as the game resembled one of the favorite features of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag with the beautifully orchestrated pirate ship battles.
The enticing game seems to be sinking as the devs find themselves in a developmental nightmare that has led to five delays now. Since the E3 announcement in 2017, the title has seen delay after delay and was even thought to be canceled due to the lack of updates.
Ubisoft released a statement detailing the delay, saying:
“Ahoy there, privateers. Our team is hard at work polishing and balancing the experience ahead of the worldwide launch. As a result, we’ve made the tough decision to move our release date to March 9, 2023. We’re very eager for you all to get your hands on Skull and Bones and dive in headfirst to the dangerous and exciting world of building your own pirate empire. To give you the best possible experience we’ve decided to take a little more time to make sure we can deliver exactly that.
For the most eager of you, we are also very happy to announce that we will hold an open beta of the game in the near future. We’ll share more news on how you can sign up to register soon, so keep your spyglasses trained on our social media for more news and announcements.”
Ubisoft released gameplay and details on Skull and Bones during the Ubisoft Forward stream in July and that followed a network test in this month that revealed some progressions issues from multiple sources. With the previous November release date now being a pipe dream, you can expect to hopefully see Skull & Bones release in March 2023.
