Minnie Driver Cast in The Witcher: Blood Origin
Netflix‘s upcoming series The Witcher: Blood Origin has cast Minnie Driver in a major role. The series will serve as a prequel for what has easily become one of the streaming platform’s most prominent titles in the Henry Cavill-led original series The Witcher. Driver will serve as the prequel series’ narrator as well as work herself into the series’ main character list. Her character, Seanchai is described as a “shapeshifting collector of old lore with the abilities to travel between time and worlds.”
Netflix‘s synopsis of Blood Origin reads:
“Every story has a beginning. Witness the untold history of the Continent with The Witcher: Blood Origin, a new prequel series set in an elven world 1200 years before the events of The Witcher. Blood Origin will tell a story lost to time – exploring the creation of the first prototype Witcher, and the events that lead to the pivotal “Conjunction of the Spheres,” when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves merged to become one. The Witcher: Blood Origin will release in 2022, only on Netflix.”
Starring alongside Driver will be Sophia Brown, Laurence O’Fuarain, Michelle Yeoh, Lenny Henry, Dylan Moran, Jacob Collins-Levy, Francesca Mills, Nathaniel Curtis, and Mirren Mack. The series was created by Declan De Barra who adapted the series from the works of author Andrzej Sapkowski.
Driver has been part of some of the most notable films in our time that include Phantom of the Opera, Goldeneye, Princess Mononoke, and Goodwill Hunting. This will mark a project in a different universe but with her talent, the series will benefit from her guidance of the audience through the narration of the series.
The Witcher: Blood Origin will premiere exclusively on Netflix on December 25th, 2022.
