Skottie Young and Jorge Corona Reunite for Ain’t No Grave

Eisner Award-winning writer Skottie Young and Eisner Award-nominated artist Jorge Corona are set to launch an all-new story titled Ain’t No Grave in May 2024 from Image Comics. This five-issue miniseries is best described as a genre-bending, original macabre Western/Fantasy tale for mature readers—an Unforgiven-style journey through a Guillermo Del Toro-esque lens.

The story follows Ryder, a woman who put her violent past behind her when she fell in love and became a mother. However, her peaceful life is shattered when she learns that everything she holds dear is under threat. Now, Ryder must pick up her guns once again and embark on a journey to confront Death itself.

“I can’t wait for people to get their hands on this genre-bending western tale we’ve been weaving,” said Young.

Corona added, “Ain’t No Grave takes some of my favorite elements from our previous books and merges them into a dark fantasy story wrapped in all the violence of a classic western. It feels good to be back working with Skottie and the team.”

The creative duo has previously collaborated on the series Middlewest. In addition to Middlewest, they have also worked on the Bram Stoker Award-nominated The Me You Love In The Dark, also for Image.

This series followed Ro, an artist who relocates to a mysterious old house in a secluded town in search of inspiration, only to encounter more than she had anticipated.

Ain’t No Grave #1 is set to be available at your favorite local comic book shops on Wednesday, May 8th, 2024.
