Overwatch 2 Season 2: Blizzard Reveals New Map, Holiday Events, Battle Pass, Plus More
Blizzardhas revealed details of Overwatch 2 Season 2 ahead of its launch in just a few days. The new update will bring in a new hero, a new map, holiday events, a new battle pass, and more. The season 2 trailer dropped along with a blog post from Blizzard giving details to players of what’s to come.
We know that the new hero will be a tank as Ramattra joins the roster and the new map will be called Shambali and will join the rotation of maps. We also get a look at the battle pass which will include a Mythic skin for Junker Queen and with the holidays around the corner, you will see some holiday-themed skins as well to pair nicely with the upcoming holiday events.
Blizzard‘s blog post reads:
“With a new season comes a new map pool. Along with our newest map, Shambali Monastery, players can anticipate the return of a fan-favorite, Rialto, and the most epic place on earth, Blizzard World. We’ll be visiting Oasis and Nepal at different times of the day and rotating out Hollywood and Watchpoint: Gibraltar. As a reminder, all off-rotation maps will continue to be available in custom games.”
The theme for this season will be Greek Mythology as you might have guessed by Junk Queen’s mythic skin. The battle pass aims to include a spread of different rewards along with some fun rewards coming our way from the two holiday events Winter Wonderland and Lunar New Year. Players will get to complete challenges to earn a skin as a reward and will include Epic Ice Queen Brigitte, Legendary Kkachi Echo, Legendary Winged Victory Mercy, and more. Much like the Halloween event, players will get the chance to watch Twitch streams for rewards and one of those rewards will include a Legendary skin for Ramattra.
Blizzard also shared some details about the Battle for Olympus event in the press release, writing:
“These heroes and several others will be imbued with awesome god-like powers in our new Battle for Olympus game mode. This new limited-time event will start on January 5 and last until January 19.”
Blizzard also hopes to do some re-balancing by making changes in season 2 which include changes to Sojourn, Doomfirst, Ana, Bastion, Junker Queen, Kiriko, Mercy, and Symmetra.
Overwatch 2‘s Season 2 will go live on December 6, 2022.
