Mortal Kombat 1 Confirms Homelander, Peacemaker, and Omni-Man Are Joining the Kombat
NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive have made a huge splash at San Diego Comic-Con as they confirm the long-rumored characters joining the upcoming Mortal Kombat 1. Homelander, Peacemaker, and Omni-Man have been confirming as well as Ermac, Takeda, Li Mei, Quan Chi, Tanya, and Baraka.
Mortal Kombat has always been home to many guest characters such as the Xenomorph, Predator, and Terminator to name a few. Now, Robert Kirkman‘s Omni-Man joins the fold as well as Garth Ennis‘ Homelander from The Boys which is now a hit TV series. Both Invincible and The Boys are now at the top of the streaming charts and call Prime Video home.
Players will also have additional fan-favorites joining the game as the first Kombat Pack will feature Johnny Cage, Ferra, Khameleon, Mavado, Tremor, and none other than Jean-Claude Van Damme. This is shaping up to be one of the biggest entries in the franchise and has characters from many different mediums for fans of all genres.
The new title will follow up on the events that unfolded in Mortal Kombat 11 and the expansion ‘Aftermath‘. The trailer showed us the power that Liu Kang wields now that he is a fire god in the reset timeline and as he brought about a peaceful era, nothing lasts forever and now danger has emerged once again which brings us to the cinematic trailer that unleashes a brutal and bloody display of action which we have become accustomed to and revel in as we see glimpses of some of the characters that we can now confirm will be on the roster when the game arrives in a few months.
The main roster has had some Kombatants released through a previous press release:
- Liu Kang
- Scorpion
- Sub-Zero
- Kitana
- Mileena
- Kung Lao
- Raiden
- Johnny Cage
- Shang Tsung – available as a preorder bonus

Mortal Kombat 1 will launch on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch on September 19, 2023. The game does have an early beta planned in August that will be accessible to players who preorder the game and those who purchase an edition of the game above the standard edition will also receive early access to MK1 on September 14th.
