Melissa McBride Drops Out of The Walking Dead’s Daryl-Carol Spinoff Series
AMC‘s upcoming The Walking Dead spinoff series that was set to follow Daryl & Carol has hit a snag. The series was set to star Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride as their characters from The Walking Dead but Universal has released a statement announcing that McBride has dropped out of the series.
Universal‘s statement reads:
“Melissa McBride has given life to one of the most interesting, real, human, and popular characters in ‘The Walking Dead’ Universe. Unfortunately, she is no longer able to participate in the previously announced spin-off focused on the Daryl Dixon and Carol Peletier characters, which will be set and filmed in Europe this summer and premiere next year. Relocating to Europe became logistically untenable for Melissa at this time.
We know fans will be disappointed by this news, but ‘The Walking Dead’ Universe continues to grow and expand in interesting ways and we very much hope to see Carol again in the near future.”
The Walking Dead spans 11 seasons and has seen many cast members come and go throughout, including longtime series star Andrew Lincoln who played Rick Grimes and is still set to star in films set in The Walking Dead universe. Reedus & Carol’s characters Dary & Carol were the only remaining original cast members remaining but it seems as Reedus might be the lone wolf in the upcoming spinoff should it continue without McBride.
Before McBride’s departure, fans will be able to catch her and Reedus in the final season of The Walking Dead as it wraps up its third arc in the near future.
