Marvel Studios Reveals The Fantastic Four Movie Cast and Release Date

Marvel Studios has confirmed the upcoming release of The Fantastic Four on July 25, 2025, with an exciting cast lineup. The film will star Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm.

The announcement was accompanied by a poster shared on Twitter, depicting the ensemble along with the beloved robot H.E.R.B.I.E.

The reboot of Fantastic Four was initially announced in 2020 during Disney‘s investor call, following the success of Avengers: Endgame. Although Jon Watts was originally set to direct the film, in April 2022, Matt Shakman (WandaVision) took over as director. Josh Friedman has been brought in to rewrite the script originally penned by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer.

The casting announcement also confirms that fan-favorite casting choice John Krasinski, who portrayed Reed Richards in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, will not reprise the role in the upcoming movie.

The casting of Pedro Pascal, following his remarkable performances in The Last of Us, The Mandalorian, and Game of Thrones, was rumored back in November 2023 and has since been confirmed. The film, which is part of the MCU’s Phase 5, has been in development for some time.

Kirby, known for her roles in The Crown and Pieces of a Woman, previously expressed interest in playing the Invisible Woman, Sue Storm. A statement she made during the premiere of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One in 2023. Quinn won the entire fandom over with his portrayal of Eddie Munson in “Stranger Things,” while Moss-Bachrach received an Emmy for his role in FX’s “The Bear in which he gave an astounding performance in the second season of the Hulu original.

The Fantastic Four were created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee in 1961. They are a family of astronauts who gained superhero powers after being exposed to cosmic rays during an outer space mission. Thing (Ben Grimm) is a former college football star, Reed’s college roommate, and a skilled pilot.

Disney has announced new release dates for Marvel movies, including The Fantastic Four and Thunderbolts for 2025. In addition, Captain America: Brave New World and Blade are set for release in 2025, with Avengers: The Kang Dynasty scheduled for 2026.

This marks an increase in Marvel film releases compared to 2024, with Deadpool & Wolverine being the only planned release for that year.
