Pedro Pascal in Talks to Play Reed Richards in Fantastic Four Film
According to a new report, Pedro Pascalis in talks to play Reed Richards, also known as Mr. Fantastic, in Marvel‘s upcoming reboot of Fantastic Four. This comes after various actors, including John Krasinski, Adam Driver, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Matt Smith, were rumored to be in the running for the role at different times.
Pascal has been making a name for himself in Hollywood with notable roles in projects such as HBO‘s The Last of Us, The Mandalorian, and Ridley Scott‘s Gladiator sequel. We also cannot dismiss his iconic work in Game of Thrones. Initially, Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts was set to direct the Fantastic Four movie, but he departed the project in April 2022, with WandaVision‘s Matt Shakman taking over as the director.
Marvel officially announced the reboot of Fantastic Four in 2020 during Disney’s investor call. However, since then, both Marvel and Disney have faced some challenges and experienced both successes and failures on both the big and small screens.
Krasinski was a fan-favorite choice for the role of Reed Richards, especially after his portrayal of the character in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, Pascal should not be underestimated, as he proved his doubters wrong with his outstanding performance as Joel in The Last of Us series, alongside Bella Ramsey. Their portrayal is regarded as one of the best video game live-action adaptations to date.
No other casting news or announcements have been made but Fantastic Four is currently set to release in theaters on May 2, 2025.
