Lisa Frankenstein Trailer Gives Us the First Look At Zelda Williams’ Directorial Debut

Focus Features has just released the Lisa Frankenstein trailer, the upcoming horror rom-com directed by Zelda Williams, the talented daughter of the late Robin Williams. The film tells the tale of Lisa Swallows (Kathryn Newton), a misunderstood goth girl attending a 1980s high school, who finds herself falling for the undead.

Lisa is a lonely teenager who develops an unusual crush on the preserved body of a boy from the Victorian era, played by Cole Sprouse. In a series of macabre events involving a tanning bed, Lisa unwittingly reanimates her undead crush, sparking a whirlwind of ghoulish adventures.

The trailer showcases Lisa’s surprise at her crush being brought back to life, as well as the confusion her undead suitor experiences upon his unexpected reanimation. Their relationship faces multiple challenges, including the judgments of others and a killing spree to locate missing body parts necessary to rejuvenate Lisa’s beau. Throughout the film, Lisa contemplates the advice of her friend Taffy, who believes that accepting someone’s flaws is more important than trying to change them.

The script for Lisa Frankenstein was written by Diablo Cody who is behind films such as Juno and Jennifer’s Body, starring Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried, respectively. Starring alongside Newton and Sprouse will be Carla Gugino, Jenna Davis, Liza Soberano, Sylvia Grace Crim, Joey Harris, and Paola Andino.

Lisa Frankenstein is set to hit theaters on February 9, 2024. Check out the trailer below:
