Paramount+ Cancels Fatal Attraction After One Season
Fatal Attraction, the series developed by Alexandra Cunningham and Kevin J. Hynes for Paramount+ has been canceled by the streaming service. Despite having Joshua Jackson and Lizzy Caplan leading the series, the show failed to make a significant impact. The report from Deadline confirmed the news and noted that the series was axed as the streamer continues to pull the plug on content for tax purposes.
In the reimagining of the classic 80’s thriller, the series delved deep into the intricate dynamics of marriage and infidelity. Set in a modern context, the story explores the complexities of relationships through the lens of contemporary attitudes toward strong women. The series aimed to capture the essence of the original while shedding light on relevant issues such as personality disorders and coercive control.

Paramount+ expressed gratitude to the entire creative teams, crews, and cast members for their dedication in bringing the series to life. Through a contemporary lens, Fatal Attraction aimed to explore the timeless themes of marriage, infidelity, and modern attitudes towards women. The show also delved into the subjects of personality disorders and coercive control, offering an opportunity for contemporary audiences to examine the moral ambiguities of the characters.

The series featured a talented ensemble cast alongside Jackson & Caplan that included Amanda Peet as Beth Gallagher, Toby Huss as Mike Gerard, Brian Goodman as Arthur Tomlinson, Alyssa Jirrels as Ellen Gallagher, and Reno Wilson as Detective Earl Booker. Recurring roles were portrayed by John Getz, Jessica Harper, Toks Olagundoye, Wanda De Jesus, David Meunier, Walter Perez, David Sullivan, and Vivien Lyra Blair, among others.
