Boom! Studios Announces Mark Waid & Peter Krause’s Irredeemable Returning With New Series
Boom! Studios has announced that Irredeemable will be returning with a new series in 2023. 24 hours after launching the Kickstarter campaign giving fans access to the Deluxe Edition Library copies of the hit comic series, the publisher announced that the series will return with original creators Mark Waid and Peter Krause.
The comic series was announced to be getting a film franchise adaptation on Netflix beginning with a film adaptation of Irredeemable and Incorruptible. The projects will be helmed by BAFTA Award-winning director Jeymes Samuels and written by Kemp Powers with producers Shawn Carter, James Lassiter, Stephen Christy, and Ross Ritchie.
Of the announcement, Waid said:
“What we can say is that it’s not set back in the day. It is a catch up on what the IRREDEEMABLE Universe is all these years later. All that said, I’m sure there’s a place for Plutonian in that story because it’s his story. It is an outgrowth of what you saw before. Pete and I are 10 years older and 10 years, hopefully, better at our jobs. So hopefully, it will continue to entertain.”
Krause added:
“[With the original IRREDEEMABLE series] I was learning on the job again, it felt like. I just felt like a newcomer… [But] I’ve stayed very active in drawing comic books [since]. So I feel like the skill level is there. And obviously, I’ve made the changeover now to working digitally, which gives me a lot of freedom. So I am really looking forward to getting back into the Irredeemable Universe with my full powers intact.”
Irredeemable will be available at your favorite local comic shops in 2023. In the meantime, you can preorder the Irredeemable Deluxe Edition Library via Kickstarter or find softcover and hardcover editions of Irredeemable and Incorruptible everywhere books are sold.
