Hellfire Gala #1 Reveals New X-Men Lineup
Marvel Comics has released the full X-Men lineup as revealed in Hellfire Gala #1. The publisher notes that the premiere issue of Hellfire Gala has “laid the groundwork for the next era of X-Men storytelling.” The Hellfire Gala comes from creators Gerry Dugan, C.F. Villa, Matteo Lolli, Russell Dauterman, and Kris Anka.
The giant-sized issue revealed two events that will tie directly into the summer’s biggest crossover event A.X.E: Judgment Day. The surprise attack of former X-Men ally Moira MacTaggert and the response received to the mutant resurrection are notable developments but in the end, it all was overshadowed by the long-awaited reveal of the new X-Men lineup.
Fans made their voices heard earlier this year with Firestar joining the ranks of the X-Men as the winner of the second annual X-Men vote. Firestar joins Cyclops, Jean Grey, Synch, Iceman, Havok, Forge, and Magik. They will see action in the upcoming X-Men #13 as the Eternals continue to wage war on mutants. The A.X.E. Judgment tie-in issue will feature a battle against the Hex and the Eternals. X-Men #13 will feature art by C.F. Silva who will be a rotating artist alongside Joshua Cassara.
Duggan shared their excitement about Firestar’s victory, saying:
“Firestar didn’t see the X-Men coming but I’m thrilled that she’s here because commencing with X-Men: Hellfire Gala # 1 and moving on, her story is exactly what the X-Men will need this year. If your favorite didn’t win — don’t despair. Every character mentioned is a page from the handbook on the way up. Hope you enjoy year two. Viva Krakoa!”
X-Men #13 will be available at your favorite local comic shop and digitally on August 17th, 2022. Check out the covers for X-Men #13 including a design variant from Pepe Larraz and the trading card variant by Russell Dauterman. Check out the covers below:
