Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny Trailer Shows Us Our First Look at Indy’s Last Adventure
Lucasfilm took to CCXP to unveil the first trailer for Indiana Jones 5 or what is officially titled Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. The film will be the fifth installment in Indy’s film saga and will be a sendoff for the character. Harrison Ford will reprise his role one final time and will be a sequel to the last entry, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
The trailer is full of the adventure we have come to love and expect from the film franchise and the classic Indiana Jones fist fights, traps, and chases which have been highlight moments of the films in the past. And of course, the classic hat and whip that ties it all together. Even with a look at the film, we still don’t know too much about the plot but if you believe the rumors circulating the film, then you can expect a passing of the torch in the film.
Starring alongside Ford will be Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), Antonio Banderas (“Pain and Glory”), John Rhys-Davies (“Raiders of the Lost Ark”), Shaunette Renee Wilson (“Black Panther”), Thomas Kretschmann (“Das Boot”), Toby Jones (“Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”), Boyd Holbrook (“Logan”), Oliver Richters (“Black Widow”), Ethann Isidore (“Mortel”) and Mads Mikkelsen (“Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore”). The film was directed by James Mangold who also helmed Logan and Ford v. Ferrari. Mangold also co-wrote the screenplay with John-Henry Butterworth and Jez Butterworth.
The film sets to another fantastic entry and a well-deserved sendoff of Ford’s character since he took on the role of Dr. Jones in 1981. The films are sure-fire classics and have given fans an adventure unlike any other with a unique setting and one-of-a-kind action sequences that are unrivaled to this day. It will be a bittersweet moment to see Indy one final time but at the same time, anticipation brews to see a possible handoff in the film. Being that in the trailer, Waller-Bridge seems to be Indy’s goddaughter, it would be a welcome surprise to see her take the mantle moving forward.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will premiere in theaters on June 30, 2023.
