Game of Thrones Sequel Series Starring Kit Harrington Coming To HBO
HBO is looking to expand the Game of Thrones universe even further with a Game of Thrones sequel series in the works starring Kit Harrington. The Hollywood Reporter dropped the news revealing that the network was developing the new series with it being centralized on Jon Snow. Harrington will reprise the role he played for eight seasons of the hit TV series based on the novels written by George R.R. Martin.
This will mark the seventh series being developed at HBO and HBO Max as a spinoff of Game of Thrones. All spinoffs find themselves at different stages in development but the prequel series House of the Dragon is the one fans will see the soonest as production has concluded and a trailer has been released. Other notable spinoffs in development are The Sea Snake, The Tales of Dunk and Egg, and Ten Thousand Ships.
Jon Snow was a highlight among fans and a fanbase was built around his character as each season passed. It is no surprise to see more of Snow with Harrington on board especially considering the circumstances his character departed from in the series finale.
Jon Snow was revealed to be the rightful heir to the Iron Throne by his real name Aegon Targaryen. The events of the series finale led him to kill his love interest Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and walk away from not only the throne but his old life as he ventured past the wall. This could lead to many different journeys to be touched on in the sequel series and perhaps even a return to see some familiar faces.
No other details or release date have been revealed for the sequel series. Stay tuned as more information becomes available.
