Capcom Reveals First Look at Resident Evil 4 Remake Gameplay

Capcom revealed the first look at Resident Evil 4 Remake‘s gameplay today during the Capcom Showcase Livestream. The presentation was led by director Yasuhiro Anpo and producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi as they walked players through the plot of Resident Evil 4, discussing the reimagining of the source material from the original while still remaining true to the original adaptation.

The game takes place six years after Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 and will follow Leon Kennedy as he serves as a bodyguard for the president of the United States’ daughter. After she goes missing, Leon is sent on a mission to a mysterious European village to find and rescue her. As we have seen before, things get a little weird from there.

The trailer revealed footage from the beginning portions of the game and showed the visual advances made from the previous entry. The environment was given a creepy facelift that definitely makes it feel like more of a horror game than its predecessor.

Hirabayashi talked about wanting to capture the fear and feeling of loneliness, saying:

“We want to nail the feeling of loneliness and fear of not knowing what lies ahead, even more so than the original. Of course, there will also be thrilling battles.”

Resident Evil 4 is a staple in the long-running franchise of Resident Evil and is regarded as one of the favorites in the series. The visual changes certainly show appeal for players looking to jump back into the madness found among the village and its townsfolk and for those looking to experience the horror for the first time, it’s definitely not one you should pass up.
