Creed Spinoff in the Works Featuring Dolph Lundgren’s Drago
MGM has announced that a Creed spinoff film is in the works that will feature Dolph Lundgren‘s Ivan Drago and his son Viktor Drago, who Florian Munteanu played. An exclusive by The Wrap reported that screenwriter Robert Lawton is attached to the project to write the screenplay for the spinoff film.
Plot details remain under wraps but the reports indicate the spinoff film aims to focus on Drago and his son Viktor. Ivan Drago was the main antagonist in the 1985 film Rocky IV who put him toe-to-toe with Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) after killing Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers) in the ring. Lundgren made his grand return to the franchise in Creed II which saw Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) face off against Ivan’s son Viktor, reigniting the feud between Ivan and Rocky while Adonis faced ruthless odds against a fighter as intimidating as his father.
The film is still in the very early stages of development, therefore, no casting or release date has been confirmed. Stay tuned for more details.
