Chris Pratt Cast As Garfield In New Animated Film
Chris Pratt has been cast in yet another animated film and is set to play the lasagna-loving cat, Garfield. The Sony animated adaptation is coming from Alcon Entertainment with Mark Dindal directing the project, based on a script from David Reynolds. Pratt also recently was announced as voicing Super Mario in the Illumination Entertainment adaptation of the video game. Many fans have been dragging Pratt for signing on to voice Super Mario and also Garfield, but he has lent his voice to successful films before such as Disney and Pixar’s Onward. He also appeared in Warner Bros. Lego Movie.
The last time Garfield was on screen was in 20th Century Fox’s live-action/animation hybrid film, Garfield: The Movie and Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties in which we saw the iconic Bill Murray voicing the titular character. The films saw success at the box office earning over 200M and $140M respectively. It will be interesting to see a fully animated Garfield film and growing up reading the comic strips in the paper, I will wholeheartedly give this film a shot.
Garfield was originally a comic strip created by Jim Davis and it chronicles the life of the title character Garfield the cat, his owner Jon, and Odie the dog. No story details have been provided as of yet, but let us know in the comments what you think of Garfield headed back to the big screen.
