Enter the Enthralling World of the Crime Noir Graphic Novel Blacking Out
Fire and murder engulf the sun-drenched deserts of Southern California in Blacking Out, the gripping graphic novel coming from Dark Horse Books. This hardcover edition marks the first publication of the noir crime adventure that found its way to readers from a successful Kickstarter campaign.
Blacking Out is the brainchild of seasoned comics industry veteran Chip Mosher, known for his work on Left On Mission and one of the masterminds behind the newly formed publisher DSTLRY, and acclaimed artist Peter Krause, renowned for his contributions to The Power of Shazam! and Irredeemable. The creative team is rounded out with colors by Giulia Brusco, lettering by Ed Dukeshire, and a logo by Tom Muller.
The story revolves around Conrad, a disgraced ex-cop yearning for redemption, who sets out to untangle the mysteries surrounding an unsolved murder during Southern California’s relentless fire season. Armed with a single clue—a discarded crucifix—Conrad embarks on a relentless pursuit to uncover the truth behind the death of Karen Littleton. Her lifeless body was discovered amidst a raging blaze that consumed thousands of acres of land.
As Conrad delves deeper into the investigation, his path crosses with Robert Littleton, the victim’s father, and prime suspect, as well as former colleagues on the local police force who meet him with hostility. Throughout his relentless pursuit of justice, Conrad grapples with his own personal demons, battling alcoholism and the gradual deterioration of his faculties.
