You Renewed For A Fifth and Final Season
Netflix has announced that Joe Goldberg will return as You gets renewed for a fifth and final season. The streamer’s hit series will see Penn Badgley‘ Joe see his reign on the streamer reach its end and lead longtime fans to the finale and possibly the end of the killer we hate to love. Fans have been wondering what will be the end of Joe’s story and this might finally be the time we see what fate awaits our protagonist in the murderous path he has left for four seasons now.
The series is adapted from the book series by Caroline Kepnes and follows Joe, a stalker, and killer who always manages to slip through the fingers of anyone who gets close to uncovering his murderous tendencies and has led to four seasons of murder and obsession as Joe goes from victim to victim stemming back to season one’s Guinevere Beck (Elizabeth Lail). Joe saw a glimpse of happiness, although we all knew it would not last as he and Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti) and we saw the deadly outcome of their marriage after the re-emergence of his obsession led him to pursue Marienne (Tati Gabrielle).
The series was co-created by Sera Gamble and Greg Berlanti. Badgley and Gabrielle are joined in season 4 by Amy-Leigh Hickman, Charlotte Ritchie, Lukas Gage, Ed Speleers, Tilly Keeper, Niccy Lin, Aidan Cheng, Eve Austin, Ozioma Whenu, and Dario Coates.
Berlanti and Sarah Schechter shared their excitement about the season five renewal, saying:
“We are so incredibly grateful to Netflix and Sera and everyone that has been a part of this show from the beginning. Sera is the most brilliant writer and partner and she will remain a key part of the YOU family as an executive producer.
We intend to bring her every idea we can from our company for years to come. Ever since our friends at Alloy shared Caroline Kepnes’ fantastic book we have always conceived it as a five season journey. We are excited to continue our relationship with Mike and Justin as they take over the reins as co-showrunners and prepare to bring Joe Goldberg home.”
Gamble added:
“As I step back from day-to-day showrunning to focus on new projects, I’m immensely grateful to co-creator and all-around genius Greg Berlanti, Caroline Kepnes, my friends at Berlanti Productions and Alloy Entertainment, and our steadfast partners at Warner Bros and Netflix.
Making the show alongside our writers, producers, directors, cast and crew has been an honor and ridiculously fun. And I feel lucky to have worked with an artist as gifted and thoughtful as Penn Badgely. I’m proud of what we’ve all accomplished and feel privileged to pass the torch. I’m excited to watch and support the You team as they bring Joe Goldberg’s journey to its delightfully twisted conclusion.”

You Season 4 is available on Netflix right now with season 5 coming at an unannounced date.
